Answering the Call!

Answering the CallJohn 4:35 “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.”

Our call is to be God’s hands and feet in this world, but sadly many have not responded to God’s invitation. As we begin a new month I want to encourage us to pay more attention to what is going on around us. Every believer is called to do something for the kingdom.

Where are you today? Some might say ‘I don’t know God’s call for me’, and some will say ‘I don’t know the will of God for my life’. I would like to suggest that you start with this bible verse and see what the Lord will do.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Turning aside

Exodus 3:3-4 “And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” [4] When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

Moses had to turn aside first to see the fire and why the bush was not burning. He could have ignored it and gone about with his primary task of shepherding without giving it any thoughts. This could be just another bush fire probably common in the desert.

To answer the call we need to learn to turn aside like Moses, especially when we observe something out of the ordinary. Learning how to pause from our hectic schedule and mundane life helps us to see what the Lord is showing us and hear what He has to say regarding our calls. Important; it was only after Moses turned aside that the Lord spoke to him-

It is time for the sons of God to arise and be salt and light in the earth! The world is crying out for the manifestations of the Sons of God- Romans 8:19

“For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.” The Lord is waiting for you! You’ve waited on HIM long enough.

Let’s learn to pause for a moment from the daily grind of life to hear Him.

Revelation 14:15 “And another angel came out of the temple, calling with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, “Put in your sickle, and reap, for the hour to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is fully ripe.”

The call of God is not a suggestion; it should be a response of obedience and surrender on our part! The harvest is fully ripe!

Dr. Charles Stanley- “Mission work can occur near or far. You could serve: at home by writing to prisoners; down the street by dishing out meals at a shelter; across the nation by providing flood relief; or in a foreign land by translating the gospel. In short, a missionary calling is whatever God tells you to do.”
