Moses my servant is dead!- Joshua 1:1-18

The above scripture passage was an urging to Joshua not to stay in the place of mourning for too long because there was work to be done and an inheritance that awaited him and the entire nation of Israel. I believe this was a call for Joshua and the people of Israel to avoid entering into a lethargic state after the death of Moses.

Joshua was given further instructions and reminded of the promises already given to Moses and what was to be accomplished.

Based on his assignment there was a charge for Joshua to be bold and courageous with the promise and the assurance that no one would ever be able to stand before him all the days of his life v5-6. What a powerful encouragement from the Lord Himself!

Notice however in v9 the urging was escalated to a command!

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

This is the game changer as this was no longer an urging or an encouragement but a “command” from the Lord. Something stirred up in Joshua’s spirit as we read on from verses 10-11, we see the change in Joshua as he in turn issues a command to the people. Thereafter there was a movement of the people of Israel. These same words “to be bold and courageous” were repeated three times in this chapter. The people because of Joshua’s obedience to God’s command affirmed Joshua’s leadership. V17-18

As applicable to us today I believe we have entered a new dispensation in the realm of the Spirit. God is about to unleash the greatest force of His power and glory on the earth like never before and the Lord is saying to you and I to arise and go to inherit the Promised Land. We are about to witness a release of those who have not bowed their heads to Baal from the caves where they have been hidden. These ones are going to walk in purity and in power to make the Kingdom of God known on the earth.

The Lord is commanding us today to arise, be bold and to be courageous as we enter in to the new season in order to possess our inheritance.

God bless you as you obey God’s command today!
