Who Do You Say That I AM?

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus and happy new year(s). 

I have been off the radar especially during the pandemic like many of us, and if you are reading this, congratulations you are alive and well so give God all the praise.  God has been so good in spite of the pandemic that has ravaged the entire world with over 5.6 million deaths.
Going forward I will be posting again as I’m directed by the Holy Spirit which could be weekly or every fortnight. 

Today’s Word
Not very many have had a true revelation of who Jesus was including some of his disciples when He walked the earth. However there were two unusual but very significant disciples of Jesus that had a revelation of the Christ even though the way of revelation was the same but through different circumstances. 

To Peter He asked “who do people say that I am?”

To Martha He introduced Himself all over again as the resurrection and the life and asked the question “do you believe?”

The two were at different levels of understanding and revelation, However their answers were exactly the same so they did get it.

Do you know Him?

I imagine some are still asking whether he was the Christ despite seeing the fulfilment of prophecies 

John the Baptist who initially got this revelation as the forerunner of the one who was to come and baptised Him still asked the question-Matthew 11:2-3 “And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” 

Look at the way Jesus answered-Matthew 11:4-5 “And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.”

The High Priest didn’t catch it either and got really frustrated…..

Matthew 26:63 “But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” 

But He knew their hearts were hardened 

Luke 22:67 “If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe,”

PETER

And Jesus had to direct this poignant question to his disciples which Peter swiftly answered.

Matthew 16:13-19 “Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” [14] And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” [15] He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” [16] Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” [17] And Jesus answered him,  “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. [18] And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. [19] I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” 

Do you have a revelation of Jesus? I mean the one that comes from the Lord our Father who is in heaven? The revelation that gives you the keys of the Kingdom?

MARTHA

She started on by blaming Jesus for His late appearance (4 days late)

John 11:21-27 “Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her,  “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”

After revealing Himself further of who He is and His capabilities to do all things because He is in fact the resurrection and the life Jesus asked if she believed and there was a light  bulb moment of the many possibilities that didn’t require further questioning by Martha. She believed!!!

Martha had very limited knowledge of the person of Christ like most of us. 

We think we do but if we really take time to go deeper with Him we would be on a different level if we know and believed. 

I’m asking you the same question today. Do you believe He is the Christ the son of God who is coming into the world or just something you simply repeat and have not lived or fully understand?

John 14:7 “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Take time out today and reflect on this……! God bless you
